Sofia, March 12. Reuter reports that the Premier of Bulgaria (M. Petkoff) has been assassinated by an official named Preteroff, who had been dismissed from the staff of the Agricultural Bank. As M. Petkoff was walking in the Boris Garden, Sofia, with the Minister for Commerce (M. Ghennadieff) yesterday, the man Preteroff appeared, and, drawing a revolver, fired three shots at him, killing him.

M. Ghennadipff interposed to save the Premier, and the assassin fired at him and wounded him.

The assassin was arrested.

M. Petkoff succeeded General Petroff as Premier of Bulgaria in November last.
