QUESTION OF THE PORT OF CALL. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington. Sunday. The Acting-Postmaster-General was asked by the Post interviewer if he hail anything to pay concerning Ajickjandj 0^111 ';. plaint against the Government making Wellington the port of call for the Vancouver line. Replying the Minister said those making this complaint entirely overlooked the facts that by a. resolution of the. House of Representatives of October 26 last the Government was empowered to establish a three-weekly service between Vancouver and a New Zealand port, hut only on condition that the time should not exceed 18 days between Vancouver and the Xew Zealand port. The selection of this port was to be at the contractor's option. '" It will be observed, therefore, - ' lie added, " that the selection of the port of call does not lie with the Government."
