ST. HELENA AND THE FLAX INDUSTRY.
Loid Elgin, Secretary of Slate for the Colonies, replying- yesterday to a resolution presented by the St. Helena Committee, in London, said that he hoped that it might be found possible to establish in St. Helena, Irom Imperial funds, the New Zealand flu\ industry on a satisfactory foundation. Hi, also promised bar, he would make immediate inquiries as to the condition of affairin the island, and stops should be taken to relieve distress if found to be existent.
