Dr. Frengley'fl report on the septic tank was received and considered satisfactory. Ilia recommendations were referred to a committee to deal with.
The statement of finances showed the overdraft at £1130 lis 5d (which includes over £200 that is repayable). Accounts totalling £874. from all sources, were passed for payment.
Inspector Middleton submitted a plan showing the main drainage, system for flood water, also a report thereon. These were referred to the Works Committee.
The Works Committee reported having met. and considered Mr. J. W. Harrison'a report re draining flood water off Duke and Victoria Streets. Tim larger drainage matters mentioned in his report were considered desirable, but were deferred for the present. It. <kos decided to raise a small portion of Hie kerbing recently put down in Victoria-street, in order to cope more effectually with the drainage of flood water. It was decided to write to the Agricultural Department asking what they are prepared to contribute towards the. cost of connecting with the proposed South Haukipu drainage system, and thus draining their property. The gasworks committees recommendation to pet aside an amount for trading in gas fittings was adopted, a £50 .limit be.ing decided upon. It, whs decided to thank the chief postmaster for acceding to a request to open the past olfice for hall an hour after the delivery of the Auckland mails. It was decided to adopt, the recommendations of the waterworks engineer, and purchase an auxiliary oil engine.
