ANNIVERSARY DAY.
HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS.
To-day being the 67th anniversary of. the foundation of the colony, a genera] holiday will be observed, and various attractions arc offered the public. The annual regatta, to be held in the harbour, the programme and details in connection with which appear elsewhere, will no doubt draw a large attendance, as in preceding years. The second day of the. Takapuna Racing Club's meeting will be held at Takapuna, and as big fields are promised, with first-class horses competing, an interesting day's sport is anticipated. The first race will be run at twelve o'clock.
No end of harbour excursions have been arranged, and holiday-seekers will have a wide choice of seaside resorts, at which to spend the day. The Devon port Company's boats will run to Mottapu, Lake Takapuna, St. Heliers, and Raugitoto, at various hours (hiring the morning, and early in the afternoon, while a vessel will leave for the fishing grounds, at nine a.m. The hours of storting and fares may be seen by reference to our advertising columns.
The Northern Company are running excursions to ('owes Bay, Waiwera, Kawau, and Ponui, and also to the Kawakawa races. The schedule times of starting are published in our advertising space. The Railway Department also advertise special railway arrangements. In the evening His Majesty's Theatre will be occupied by the Royal Comedy Company in the presentation of The Orchid," and Mr. John Puller has a special holiday fare at the Opera. House.
