Sydney, January 27. The steamer Karitanc has been docked here. While on her last voyage to Strahan, during manoeuvres in the harbour, she struck a rock. The steamer leaked slightly, but the captain brought her In Sydney. An examination reveals extensive damage to her bottom.

The Karitane is one of the Union Company's fleet of cargo steamers, trading between Melbourne and Tasma.nian ports. She is a steel steamer of the following dimensions: Length, 2471t; breadth, 5.6 ft; depth, 16.8 ft; tonnage. 1376. She whs formerly named the Cavalier, and was built at Sunderland, England, in '1903, and purchased by the Union Company in 1905.
