PICNICS.
THE first annual picnic held i )y the e i,.. ployees of the Auckland Farmers" Freezing Company, took place a; Motoutapu last Saturday. Mr. .lames Hetd kindly lending the ground for the occasion. Glorious weather conditions prevailed, and the parly, consistin? of about 500. was accompanied bv the .North Shore Maud. A splendid days outing was enjoyed by all. A varied programme of sports, including numerous events for the children, was got off. and keen competition was. shown.
The Independent Order- of Oddfellows held their second picnic at l'apakura last Saturday, on the recreation ground. The special train at half-past nine a.m. carried some 600 excursionists, and the quarter-past one p.m. train was equally well patronised. The gathering was graced l.v the presence of representatives from the Manchester I'nity, Foresters. Rechabites, and other lodges. livery attention was given to the children. Numerous races were run during the afternoon.
