Chelmsford ran aground in close proximity to the sandspit lighthouse on the trip from Auckland to Pa en a early this morning. It appears thai sonic of the steering gear broke. Repairs were effected., and the choppy sea having lilted the vessel over the shoal, the journey was iesiitned, the Puke being reached after midday.
