GREAT RAILWAY WOLF HUNT.
Savage timber wolves have been increasing rapidly of late in the sporting districts of Northern Ontario and Quebec, and the Canadian Pacific Railway is arranging a " round-up" and slaughter of the beasts on a grand scale.
The company's plan is to get a party of one hundred sportsmen who have a hatred of the wolf, to provide every kind of camp equipment and a big supply of guides, and to make Che " round-up" with Northern Lake, which has a small island in, the middle., as the centre of "the turning movement, so us to drive the wolves there. In the middle of the. frozen lake a party of sharpshooters wilt be established, and here the slaughter will take place. The party will conduct the hunt on snowshoes and camp in tents'. The cause of the prevalence of wolves is the strict enforcement of the game laws in recent years. The result has been an increase of the moose deer, upon which the, wolves prey.
