ALPINE. NEW AND VALUABLE RKEF INTER SECTED. [BV TELEGRAPH, —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] OnKTMOtriH, Friday. Important developments are. reported from the Alpine, mine a' I,yell. A strong new reef is showing, and splendid gold is freely showing at (he No. 4 level. The ran of gold is believed to lie a continuation of the remarkably rich stone recently found in the No. 7 level, and as the. distance between the Nos. 4 and 7 levels is about 750 ft, perpendicular, a very large block is available. The. No. 7 level is still being driven north on the reef, which continues to widen, and is very rich. It is intended to extend the No. 10 level about 200 ft north, to come under the line of the new reefs in the Nos. 4- and 7 levels. The indications are good, and should the new reef live down to this depth there will be over lKXJffc of backs. The company will shortly complete its purchase of the mine, and expects to start work in February or March. As the property is fully equipped with a large battery* and all appliances, everything should bo ready to start crushing in March. THAMES WARDEN'S COURT. Affnew for special site at Tairua (objected to by Messrs. Burton, Masefleld, and others) was finally settled by agreement, three acres being awarded to applicant, and the balance of two acres, on which the battery is situated, to William Tiurton. W. T. F. Walker, for license for the Miranda mineral claim for Fullers' earth at Tararu and waterrace: Extension of time granted to complete survey. New Sylvia Gold Mining Company, tor six months' protection for the Op or Exterdfd special claim, Tararu, planted; Hairier Reefs Gold Mining Company, for permission to work the Harrier Reefs and Great Harrier Extended special claims with two men earn for six months, granted : M. .7. Bain, for permission to work the Golden Run special claim with two men for six months, granted ; William Burton, for license for special site at Tairua (two acres, an shown on the plan), granted; Kirikiri Mine?. Limited, for six months' protection for the Kirikiri Extended special claim, recommended ; Kirikiri Mines, Limited, for permission to work the Kirikiri special claim with six men for six months, granted; New May Queen Gold Mining Company, lor permission to work the May Queen East special claim with six men for six months, granted ; C. E. Storie, for license for special site at, Neavesville, granted ; C. E. Storie. lor license for two water-rare sites at Neavesville, granted ; New Eclipse Gold Mining Company, for six months' protection for the Eclipse and Vulcan special claims, water-race, aerial tramway, and machine site at Tararu, forwarded to the Minister; Andrew .lamieson. for a license for the Rainbow special claim at Great Barrier Island, recommended. Several other applications were adjourned. Plaint for forfeiture of the Manukau mineral license, Wairoa South : C. Hartley v. .lames Thompson or licensee and the National Hank of New Zealand as mortgagees—Mr. Jackson, of Waihi, appeared for the National Hank and Mr. MilleT for the plaintiif. Mr. Jackson, for the bank, argued that his clients did not know that any responsibility rested, on them as mortgagees other than paring the rent due. which had been done. When they bad eventually found out their responsibility they had endeavoured to have a company formed to work the mine, and this was in hand at present. Defendants were fined £50 and costs.

Judgment was (liven by consent in the cases of the Thames Drainage Board v. the Vanguard and Shortland Flats Gold Mining Companies. Judgment wait Pilfered for £. 7 lis 3d against the Vanguard Company and £277 Is 6d against the Short-kind Flats Company.
