THE PREMIER AT DUNEDIN.

The Garrison Hnll was packed to its utmost capacity to-night. when the citizens of Dun.Hli.i tendered a reception to Sir -J. War.!....The-., hall «.VHi beautifully decorated and round the gallery were numerous mottoes unhealing Sir Joseph's career from membership of the Bluff Harbour Board to the Premiership of the colony. The Dimodin Pipe Band played the Premier from the Grand Hotel to the hall, on enteritis which Sir .Joseph, who was accompanied by .MJ-s Kileen Ward, was enthusiastically welcomed by the vast audience rising to itfeet and cheering him enthusiastically. The Mayor of Dunedin (Mr. Geo. Lawrence) occupied the chair. After a speech of welcome by The Mayor an illuminated address, encased in a beautifully-worked album, was presented to Sir J. Ward by Mr. James Mills, who spoke on behalf of the commercial interest*. Brief addresses were also given by Mr. .1. H. Hosking, who spoke for the learned professions-, and Mr. .1. T. Paul, who .-poke for the industrial classes. Sir .Joseph Ward on rising to reply was greeted with loud cheers, the audience rising en masse and heartily singing "For He's a .Jolly Good Fellow."
