A WINTER SHOW.
I'm; determination of tin: Agricultural Association to make a Winter Show is one which is based upon sound judgment. If properly supported, the movement can hardly fail to be a remarkable success, for Auckland is pre-eminently an openwinter province, and much better able to carry an exhibition of this character than those other districts where it has been initiated with entirely satisfactory results. It will necessarily take some trouble to get fairly started, but without trouble nothing worth doing car ever be accomplished, and in this case selfinterest, as well as a true civic spirit, ought to bring abundant help to the Association. Holidays arc always enjoyable, when they arrt fairly earned, and our agriculturists are.entitled to a winter carnival, as well as to a summer one if there is
any truth in the maxim about all work and no play. And if, in the good agricultural custom of uniting business with pleasure, a winter holiday trip to town can be built up around displays and competitions which will help to push ahead the agricultural industry it ma} well give satisfaction to all concerned. The Association ought, to have the hearty assistance of both town and country in the good work of making the new Auckland Winter Show a magnificent success.
