In mining Talismans were firm, with sales at 34a 6d and 355, the market closing with inquiry at 34s 6d and sellers at 355. ' Waiotahis advanced a shade, and after sales at,32s 9d, 335, and 32s 9d, closed with demand at 32s 6d, sellers asking 335. Waitangis wore a point firmer, business in 6d paid being at 4s and 4s 3d, with further demand at the latter figure, while contributing sold at 3s lid and 4s Id, closing with buyers at 4s 2d. South Kapangas sold at 9d; late sellers 9d, buyers Bd. The rumoured discovery in the Crown mine having been confirmed there was a sharp advance on quotations, and sales wore made from 7s to 7s 4d. More were wanted at 7s 4d, sellers holding for 7s 6d. Tairua Broken Hills showed impovement, transactions taking place at 2s 3d. 2s 4d, and 2s sd. Moro could have been placed at 2s 4d, late sellers asking 2s 6d. GROCERS' MARKET QUOTATIONS. Little business Is doing, and *pot prices are unchanged. Supplies of New Zealand are exhausted. Flour is neglected, and prices unchanged. Freight* are quiet and steady. BUTTER. Danish, 121s; colonial, unchanged. Choicest brands are well cleared; secondaries are slow of sale with a weaker tendency. The lateness in the arrival of the Wakool's consignment is causing trouble, some buyers refusing the butters because they are now unsalable until after trie holiday*. METALS.
