PEARY'S POLAR EXPEDITION.
m PROSPECT OF NEW LAND DISCOVERY. By Telegraph.Press Association.--Copyright. (Received December 10, 9.15 p.m.) New York, December 10. Commander Peary, the Arctic explorer, in the course of a lecture here on his recent attempt to reach the North Pole, has stated that he is convinced of the existence of land in the Polar regions. About 100 miles to the north-west of Grant Land he had found an open Polar sea and had observed driftwood apparently from rivers traversing some unmapped land.
Commander Peary made Grant Land his headquarters in his recently-completed Polar expedition.
