NEW ZEALAND PETROLEUM,
BORING MACHINERY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] New Plymouth, Monday. A deputation will wait on the Hon. J. Millar, Minister for Customs, to-morrow night to', request that the Customs duties and steamer freight on boring machinery be lowered. The - Mount Egmont Petroleum Syndicate, the bulk of whose capital is held in New South Wales, is negotiating for a boring plant in Sydney with the view of commencing boring operations at Oma.ta, on Mr. Daniel Pen ward en's property, about March next. ... The directors of the Oil and Freehold Company have now almost completed negotiations for the purchase of a complete boring plant, and for the services of ah expert superintendent borer. "Operations will probably commence from four to six weeks hence. The most of the machinery for the operations on theßonithon Estate has arrived now. The hardwood for the derrick is in Wellington, and a start with the boring will be made early in January.'
