London, December 10. The Times, commenting on the ease of Webb (Income Tax Commissioner of Victoria) versus Outtrim (De-puty-Postmaster-General of . Vic-, toria), says it illustrates the need of a strong tribunal to determine colonial appeals containing more varied elements than that demanded by litigants in the United Kingdom. It concurs in the decision of the Privy Council that Federal officers are liable to pay income tax in Victoria.
Melbourne, December 11
The Victorian Cabinet Ims decided that the Commonwealth officer shall I* asked to pay the arrears of income tax, with interest at the rate of eight per cent. Ministers have abandoned the idea a charging double duty.
