At the Church Hon.se. Westminster, on October 25, the Bishop of Stepney presided at the annual conference of the Church of England Men's Society, which lias branches in New Zealand, at Auckland. Cambridge, Haivke's Bay, Otahuhu, and Petone. The Rev. Gordon Savile, clerical secretary, read greetings from branches in New Zealand. The Bishop of Auckland wrote that on the tu.y of the conference in London they in Auckland would be holding a mass meeting for men. "Little by little," he added, "in a good and healthy manner, the Church of England Men's Society is forging ahead here." The chairman, speaking of the phenomenal progress of the past year, said he believed the work of the society was destined to prove a really remarkable movement, in the English Church. In the evening the Bishop of Stepney presided at the annual meeting in the great hail, which was crowded with men. The Rev. Gordon Savile read the annual report. During the past year the number of branches had increased from 294- at Homo and 25 abroad to 585 at Horns and 45 abroad. Branches had been started, though as yet only on a small scale, in New Zealand, Queensland, South and West Australia, Canada, and the West Indies. It was hoped that the Pan-Angli-can Congress' and Conference of Bishops in 1903 would give a great impetus to the linking up of the work of the Church among men all over the world. The chairman read a letter from the Archbishop of Canterbury, who said: "Please say to' the meeting of the Men's Society bow intensely thankful I feel for the . manifest blessing which has attended , it* growth and work during the present year."
