CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION.

An interesting exhibit and one of special ;,';■; importance to coaehbuiiders T and wheel* i" 6 wrights is made by Frank Gnmky, Limited, of Sydney, who have- supplemented : the, forestry exhibit of the Government of -"Sew;* i South. Wales with a fine display of wheel*, ? poles, shafts, bars, i-pokesr-navet., felloes,f§ and similar goods manufactured from; the -v hardwoods of New South "Wale*. A \ fea- J ture of this exhibit is that the- structure i* built, up entirely of various exhibits in the ;1 form the firm is accustomed to wtpply them m to the coaehbuiiders and wheelwrights of ; New Zealand and elsewhere. The entrance' is formed by bundle,* iif spotted gum shaft*, ? and bundles of seasoned spotted gum pole* do service as corner posts" and other stud- : ding, the intervening ypaco being filled with I wheels of various kinds and friezes com- | posed of whiffletreec and rough turned JS spokes. Inside the cuclosuro the back is ! filled in with rough tray and other shafts, 1 and against these is a display of spokes'of various sizes and patterns, " both rough; • turned and finished, made from ironbark,' '! spotted gum, and othnr lees-known timbers.; ,\ felloes of the well-known redgum - (some ,■■£ rough-sawn, others dressed and , shaped). naves of the fatuous ironbark, also of spotted (:*"•■ gum and app!o tree; bent rims of spotted ■; gum, which is the i>ost~krK>wii substitute.: :. for American hickory, and in some respect* .| its superior.
