MR. MATTHEWS AND "VICTORY" MEMENTOES.

Sir,—Will yen permit me to thank, through your columns, all those kind friends who made my short visit to Auckland so pleasurable and' helpful?* The British and Foreign Sailors' Society will. I have no doubt, respond to the earnest hope expressed by many, and in the future be associated with the good work, so long and so successfully carried on in Auckland for the benefit of seamen. The society being international interdenominational in character, works upon the same broad lines as the all-round mission which now needs strengthening and somewhat enlarging. The president of the Auckland Ministers' Association, the Rev. W. Gray Dixon. M.A., St. David's manse, Auckland, lias kindly consented to receive gifts from schools or churches for the Nelson centenary million shilling fund, and to forward "such Victory mementoes to schools and others as may have been promised. I deeply regret that I was unable to address more schools, but hope the headmasters or mistresses will arrange for the distribution of the shilling "Victory charms in the schools, and the reception of the Victory challenge shield. E. W. Matthews.
