If it were possible to give an assurance to tho public that at all amateur wrestling carnivals the bouts would bo as full of merit and interest as those witnessed 011 the Domain oil Labour Day there would be. no fear of small attendances. The exhibition provided by two of Arthur Skinner's pupils in tho heavy-weight division was exceptionally good. The pair consisted of • Powell and Constable Burke. They each scored a fall, and the final had to bo 'postponed until a date to be arranged. Powell showed ability in footwork, but did not give Burke an opportunity on the. grass, although the last-mentioned tried hard to induce him to do so. After wrestling three-quarters of an hour, neither secured a fall. College and Leslie, light-weights, had not secured a fall and consequently the bout had to be postponed.' In February last, when R. Porter ami Delhi Neil-on were contending for the middle-weight championship of Australia, M. Powlev, of New Zealand. < bulienged tho winner to a three-styles match for the championship of Australasia (says die Referee of the 3rd inst). Powlc\* stipulated that the contest was to take place in Dunedin, each man to weigh under list. Failing this, Porter was offered a match in catch-as-catch-can style, ' best, of tlireo falls, for £50 or £100 a-side. Porter asked for expenses for himself and brother, but this was not agreed to by til© New Zealander, and nothing came of the match. Porter and a friend have since talked the matter over, ana Porter has decided to leave for New Zealand at once
