ELECTRICAL SUPPLY PLANT.
CALLING FOR TENDERS. THE. PROPOSED' CHARGES. The question of the electrical supply plant for the Auckland power-house was before the City Council again last evening. The Streets Committee reported that Mr. W. G T. Goodman, the electrical expert, had advised calling for tenders for the supply of the electrical plant, returnable on January 17, 1907, which the committee approved. .Mr. Goodman also recommended ! that the maximum demand system be | adopted; that, the rate for lighting be 7d per unit for the first hour per day and 2d ! per unit after, and for motive power 3d per unit for the first two hours per day and 2d per unit after. The committee recommended the adoption of the charges suggested. A letter was read from Messrs.. J. J. Craig and Co., suggesting that the tenders be made returnable at the end of February, so that they could communicate, with their agents at Home. The Mayor said he had gone carefully into the position, and the time allowed was amply sufficient. Mr. A. J. Entrican thought an extra terder or two might be the, means of a considerable saving, and he moved. "That a further three weeks he granted.'' This was carried, making tenders returnable on February 7. The committee's other recommendations were then adopted.
