w, a , - Wednesday. ' Tub fortnightly meeting -of the Waihi Liberal and Labour Federation was held last night. There was a larg* attendance, Mr. J. Foster occupying the chair. A letter was received from the Premier dealing with the federation's request for more storage, accommodation , at, the ..Waihi railway ..station yards, and stating that the matter had been referred to the Hon. J. McGowan. It was resolved to a=k the Government to raise the grade of .the Waihi post office. It was pointed out that the business transacted at the office is more than that transacted,at many first; grade offices, and yet the status has never been raised. By raising the grade better facilities would be afforded in connection with the money ~ order depart: ment. The Minister for Education wrote stating that nothing could bo done this session in respect of the federation's request that the municipal roll be used in'connection with the election of school committees. The question of appointing a delegate to represent the local branch' at tho Liberal and Labour Federation Conference, to- be held at Wellington on tho 22nd inst., was left in the hands of the Executive Committee. A vote of thanks was accorded to tho ladies of the branch for their efforts in connection with the Seddon memorial fund. An additional £6 10s has been handed to the treasurer of the fund (Mr. H. D. Morpeth); making £14- from the branch. It was re solved that a; prize bo given for the best paper on how to keep.alive the interest; in politics during the off season.'
