WORKMEN'S DELEGATES ON TRIAL.
. . — . I A NOTABLE SPEECH. GOVERNMENT, NOT WORKMEN, THE CULPRITS. (Received October 9. 11.2 p.m.) St. Petersburg, October 9. During the trial at St. Petersburg yesterday of members of the Council of Workmen for revolutionary conduct M. Krastalcff, president of the council, addressed the Court. He said the Government was really trying two hundred thousand workmen who had striven for political and economic reforms by pacific means. The Government ought to be placed on its trial for causing the revolution, since the workmen had been forced into action. The revolution would continue. Many of the witnesses refused to take the oath, and ostentatiously ignored the judges. THE BRITISH DEPUTATION. DENOUNCED AS MISCHIEFMAKERS. St. Petersburg, October 8. The Novoe Vremya in an article bitterly attacks the members of the British deputation for bearing an address to the members of the dissolved National Duma, and denounces, them as mischief-makers. (Received October 9, 9.28 p.m.) London, October 9. The British deputation conveying the address to" the members of the Duma includes Mr. A. E. Scott, M.P., Mr Robertson, M.P., Mr. H. G. Montgomery, M.P., Mr. Steadman, M.P. (all Liberals). The address has been signed ~by 300 mem-: bers of the House 1 of Commons, mostly Liberals and Labour members, most of the .sft(Son officials, many members of the London County Council, five bishops, and many mayors and authors. -, MONEY FOR THE TSAR. London, , October 8. The sum of £1,350,000 has been withdrawn from the Bank of England and remitted to the Tsar. ' .. —' ..... "- .■ \ .: BOMB THROWING. A . VICE-GOVERNOR'S ESCAPE. St. Petersburg, October 8. Two bombs were thrown at M. Kobcka, Vice-Governor ;of Kasan, yesterday. He escaped, but a man near at hand was injured.
