' Entertainments, were also given on behalf of the local corps' self-denial effort. The larrikin element is coining into unwelcome prominence. A short time ago many window-blinds outside business premises were ruthlessly ripped to pieces with knives, and other depredations committed. Last night a number of fire-plug posts were torn up and thrown into tho adjacent paddocks and gardens.- The Borough .'.Council ■ issued a warning to-day that penalties will ! be entailed by such action. ■ ' The last football match of the season was played on Saturday afternoon between Town and Country, the latter proving victorious by 16 points to nil. ; The final hockey match of. flip present , season will be played on Saturday next,between teams representing Manga.wai and , Whaugarei.
