H. M.S. CHALLENGER.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] 5 Gisborne, Monday. On the voyage from Wellington, H.M.s. Challenger underwent a steam trial, using Westport coal. Though the vessel's bottom is very foul, she made 19£ knots on the passage. The Challenger leaves tomorrow for Auckland, where she goes into dock. BE
