OBITUARY.
As old and respected member of the legal profession in Auckland passed away yesterday at his residence In Onehung'a in the person of Mr. F. M. P. Brookfield. The deceased was 82 years of age. Mr. Brookfield arrived in New Zealand in. the early, fifties from England, and started practice in Auckland as a solicitor. After many years' practice, during which he was for a time Provincial Solicitor, Mr. Brookfield was appointed Crown Prosecutor, which position he held for many years. Subsequently he was a judge of the Native Land Court. • On severing his connection with the Land* Court, Mr. Brookfield resumed practice, and took into the business his son, Mr. Frederick Wm. Brookfield. The deceased, was held in high respect by his brother practitioners, who speak in warm terms vi his many excellent qualities. His wife predeceased him by four years. He leaves a grown-up family of four sons and four daughters. Mrs. Ann Waymouth, a very old colonist, died at her residence, Dunedin-street, Ponsonby, yesterday. The deceased was 85 years of age, and was the widow of the late Mr. John Waymouth, public accountant, who predeceased his wife by about 10 years.
