Lionel Terry, who escaped from the gunny side Mental Hospital on Saturday night last, and who was captured on the following Tuesday and returned to the institution, escaped again last night. He went to bed at eight o'clock, and was locked up in the ordinary way. At halfJ past nine it was discovered that he bad broken down the shutters of his window, and let himself down to the ground, a distance of 20ft, by means of rope made out of his bed clothes. . As far as is known, Terry had no clothes on except his night garments. Shortly after midday to-day the police " were informed from Ivaiapoi that a man " dressed in white trousers and shirt, and 5 supposed to be a lunatic, had been seen 5 in the Waimakiriri River bed, and it is J thought that this is the missing man. A strong force of constables and detectives ' was sent out from Christchurch and Kaiapoi ' with the object of recapturing him. I -
