AN EDITOR PROSECUTED.

THE CASE DISMISSED. [by telegraph. press association.] CHRisicntmcH, Tuesday. Mr. HrnE, editor of Truth, was prosecuted to-day by Mr. Macpherson, inspector of dairies. Truth published an article by a special reporter, in which the state of certain dairies was described as shocking. Mr. Macpherson, with a view to proceedings against the. dairymen for breaches of the Act, went to Mr. Huie and asked for the name of the reporter and the names of the dairies referred to. Mr. Huie refused, and asked that tire request should be made in writing. He was supplied with a request in writing, but still refused to give the information asked for. Contending that this refusal was an offence under the Act, Mr. Macpherson took proceedings. After a lengthy argument, the magistrate said tfhat the only person liable to prosecution- ' for refusing to give information was the person connected with the daily. He dismissed the case. The Crown Prosecutor said the case would be taken to a higher Court.
