AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday. There were present: The chairman (the Hon. E. Mitchelson), and Messrs. A. Keyes, C. C. Daere, W. E. Hutchison, J. Knecn, S. C. Brown, G. W. Basley, R. Logan, and W. Philscn.

Jetty for the Iris: The district engineer to the Public Works Office advised that he had been instructed to call for tenders far a. landing: jetty of reduced length and width from that originally intended, with a storage shod, for the use of H.M.c.s. Iris. On tho motion of the chairman the- plans were approved. Freeman's Bay Sower: The City Council informed the Hoard that they had resolvtM that the engineers to the Council and Board should prepare plain and estimates for carrying the drainage from the. Freeman's Bay sewer out- to sea. and ways and means would be considered when plans' and estimates wore submitted. The letter was received. A Complaint:: A letter was received from Messrs. T. M. McLaughlin and Co., complaining that in tho tenders for the construction and supply of an oil launch there could be no competition for the engine, as a. Union engine was specified. Tito secretary said Messrs. .McLaughlin had not sent in a tender. The letter was received.

Sand from Rangitotn Reef: Mr. E. Hodgson applied for permission to remove s'aiid from Rangitota Reef. The application was deferred for a report. Tenders for Launch: Three tenders were received as follows for the construction of a launch, the engineer's estimate being about. £550:—Bailey and Lowe. £589; Clare and Collins, £583: and C. Bailey, jmi., £560 (accepted). A fourth lender sent, in yesterday afternoon at twenty minutes past two p.m. was not received.

The Railway Wharf: Tho recommendation of the committee that the Board take over from tho contractors the remainder of eontract No. 2., Railway Wharf, not already taken over, with the exception of the asphalting yet to be completed, as from Julv 1 last, was adopted. Reclamation Works: The committee recommended that the works at Birkenhead and freeman 8 Hay reclamation l*> carried out without inviting tenders for the same, an I that the necessary material for such work) bo ordered through the Board's agents in London.
