'•" < • . HOCKEY. 'A trial match was played on the Domain on Saturday afternoon between A and B,hockey teams. The play in the first spell was much in favour of the A team, who scored three, sob!*, Mason .securing two and Young one. In the second spell the A backs played behind the B forwards, and greatly equalised matters, both sides scoring three goals. The A team won by six goals to three. The scorers in the last, spell for the A team were Mason (2) and Young (1), and for. the B" team' were Mather (2) and Dineen (1). •The pick :of . the players ' were Sarah (in goal), Anderson and Hill (fullbacks), Porter, Kavanngh, and .Whitley (halves), and Mason, J. Lepine, Mather, Jessup, W. Lepine,'. and Young (forwards). Mr.'F. Burbush was referee. "-■ St, George's A. v. Auckland Juniors: This match was played on the Remuera ground, and after an uninteresting game it resulted in & win for. St. George's by four goals to nil.-.'For the winners, Cuff, T. and. E. Stone, and Tattley shot "goals. Auckland were handicapped by having -to ploy three men short.

At Mackaytown this afternoon a hockey.match was played between the Moana (Karangahake) and Paeroa ladies' teams, the Taeroa team winning by eightfoals to nil. • - ■■';■■ , BOWLING. ' The following games were played on Saturday afternoon, at the Carlton winter green.:—Ussher, McDougal. Eagleton, Kilgour (skip), 11, v. Cottle, Bennie, Osmond, Thornes (skip). 16. . Baildon, Casey, Holmes, Easton (skip), 24, Vi Keesing, White, Jones, Martin (skip), 15. Goldsmith, •Smith, Ronayne, Thomson (skip), 30, v. Snedden, Arey, Kent, Hemus (skip), 17. At a meeting, of the residents of Richmond, on Friday night; it was unanimously decided to form a new bowling club, to be known as the Rich--mond Bowling Club. Messrs. Donald, Urwin, and McMaster, jun., were empowered to arrange for a lease of the required property, and make •all other arrangements. This club will occupy and . play upon . the green lately used, by the Grey Lynn Bowling Club.
