There, is no business doing' in the local grain market. 'There are some inquiries for both wheat, audi oats, but none offering, as holders are still awaiting further development in the market- before attempting to sell. Orders for ryegrass seed for spring sowing in Canterbury are coming in freely, and a fortnight's fine weather would see ; stocks of- old ;.dSturo seed, in merchants' hands ■ considerably reduced. Merchants are now busy dressing locally-grown cow grass, late deliveries ■ of which point to the fact that there was a far' greater quantity, .shelled than was expected. The yield in some coses has been very . satisfactory.
