[FROM OUR OV.y rOBHESraSDSSTS.) WOOD LEIGH. WE have bad very wet weather with high winds during the last few weeks, bat 'the stock in the district is looking well. The district* is moving' steadily along'. Mr. Elliot has had a comfortable five-roomed honse built on the farm lie bought from Mr. Barton. A deal of fencing is being' done, a. lot of it being: road frontages, which, means better roans, as cattle will not be always on them. We are trying to get the telephone. A petition lias been got up and largely signed. A meeting was held at the Settlers' Hall to consider the advisability to raise a Government loan to metal the roads from here to Bregmen's Lauding. There are differences of opinion. Some want the road to start about balf-a-mile on this side of Bothwell Bridge, and others want it to go three and a-half miles farther to Coleman's . Junction. • An ambulance class is to be started here, the lectures to be given by a medical man from Huntly. WAIPV. ON Saturday, July 14, a very interesting game of football was played between the West Ward and East Ward teams, resulting in a win for West Ward, which was captained by Mr. W. Potter. The East Ward was captained by Mr. Angus McDonald. This is the third match played between these two teams, with two wins for West Ward and one game drawn. Mr. A. Wilkinson acted as referee. After the game a large number of ladies met the member* of the Waipu Football Club, and Miss Maria McKay, on behalf of the ladies, presented Mr. Angus McDonald (captain of the club) with a beautiful banner. Mr. McDonald, on behalf of the club, suitably thanked the ladies. Mr. Dan. McKenzie also said a few words. Afternoon tea was served by tie ladies in the Library Hall. The weather for the last week has been very wet., most of the creeks in the district being in flood. People who have timber to float are busy trying to get it to the different booms. '

The Waipu Dairy Company are making preparation for erecting a creamery at the Euakaka. This ought, to be a. great help to the company, as It will bring a. large supply of cream to the factory. HAMILTON. A MEETING of those interested in the formation of an athletic club in Hamilton was held in the Royal Hotel on Thursday evening. About 20 were present, and Mr. 31. E. Tristram occupied the chair. After some discussion it was decided to form a club, to be affiliated with, the New Zealand Athletic Union. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. H. J. Clreenslade, M.H.R.; president, Mr. R. J. Clwynne; vice-presidents (limited to seven). Messrs. H.' E. Tristram, C. Speight. G. Edgecumhe, C. Cowley. I. Coates. .1, Varney, and Father Darby; hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr. F. H. Tuck. The annual subscription is not to exceed ss. The Hamilton. The report shows that the quantity of butter made last season was an increase of 47,3001b over the previous year. The number of suppliers is only 80; quantity of milk supplied 5,709.7151b; homeseparated cream supplied, 54,9131b; quantity of butter-fat, 244,4601b; quantity of butter made, 273,40011). The average test of milk is given at 3.85 per cent.; average price paid per lb butter-fat, 7.67 d; average price received per lb butter, 10.72 d; average cost of manufacturing lib butter (working expenses, salaries, freights), 2.05 d.
