AN AUSTRALIAN NAVY.

STATEMENT BY SIR H. CAMP-

BELL-BANNERMAN.

By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.

(Received July 19, 9.26 p.m.)

Lonsdale, said he was aware that a section of Australian opinion favoured the having of a local navy, but there was no reason to believe that that was the general opinion. If the Commonwealth decided to establish a local fleet, he hoped it would take the British Admiralty's advice respecting its constitution.
