The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Edu cation Board, held yesterday,. was attended b; Messrs. L.. .1. Bagnall, J. b. McKenzic, C. J. Pan iii Edgecumbc, G. L. Peacocke, and " J. Stall worthy, M.11.R. Messrs. A. K. Harris and H. J Greensladc, M.H.K., gent apologies for 1 non-at tendance. Mr. L. J. Bagnall, in consequenc of the death of Mr. Luke, was elected chairman Appointment*: The following appointments wer authorised Mr. D. '. C. Brown, headmaster Tamaki West; Mr. W. J. Gatenby, 8.A., first a* sistaht-master, Mount Eden; Mr. 11. A. 'barrow first assistant-master, Parnell ; Mr. Reginald J Mendl, teacher, Karamu; Mr. Edgar 11. Long teacher, Mangapai No. 2; Mr. Charles Meredith ; master, Paeroa District High School; Mrs. P. A Windust, teacher, Opua; Mrs. R. B. • Murray teacher, Paengaroa. aided school: Miss Rose Col lier, assistant-teacher, Kohukohu; Miss E. M ' Jennings, assistant, Otorohanga; Miss Constanc M. Jory, teacher, Orere aided school. The Manawaru election wat also annulled and fresh meetings in both in stances were arranged. ■' Tenders: The secretary (Mr. Vincent E. Rice reported that the lowest tender received for th« erection of a school at Henderson was that oi E. -Wriglev at £268. . The. Government grant \ya« £240. . Mr. J.' .Mitchell, the Board's architect, said he considered that the tender was too high hut' recommended that it should be accepted. On the suggestion of the. chairman it was decided to approach the Department, with a view to get ting an. increased grant.' and (minting out that the cost of erection of buildings in the country in the winter time was greater than in summer. Woodside School: A deputation, consisting of th" members of the Woodside School Committee, waited on the Board to request that the school building at Wond6ide be. removed to Manurewa, The chairman of the school committee said the removal was in every way desirable, as the school: as at present situated, was not central. . As an instance of this, he pointed out that out of 12 pupils attending the school 46 came from-the Manurewa side, as compared with 26 from the other. The secretary of the Board said-it would cost £200 to shift the school, and towards this the residents of Manurewa had subscribed £100.
