THE POLICE FORCE.
TRANSFERS AND PROMOTIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] - Wellington, Wednesday. The following transfers and promotions in the police force of the colony have been decided on:—Sergeant Williams, of Auckland, goes to Invercargill, vice Sergeant Bowden, who takes charge of the new station at Feilding; Constable Dart, who has been temporarily in charge "of. the instructing department at the Mount Cook depot, at Wellington, has been permanently appointed to that position, and promoted to the rank of sergeant; Sergeant Higgins, of Dunedin, has been transferred to Lawrence, vice Sergeant Bowman, transferred to Timar-u ; Sergeant Miller, of Gore, has been transferred to Masterton, to replace Sergeant O'Malley, who retires on a pension. Acting-Detective Hollis, of Auckland, has been promoted to be detective, and remains there. Constable N. Abbott, of Wellington South, has been promoted sergeant, and transferred to Auckland. Constable J. Foster (Feilding) has been promoted sergeant, and transferred to Dunedin; Constable A. T. Emerson (Arrowtown) has been promoted sergeant, and goes to Dunedin. Constable McCormick, of Ponsonby, has been transferred to Hamilton, and will take up his new duties to-morrow. Constable Luke Spellman, of Partial), has been transferred to Rotorua. He leaves to-day to take up his new duties.
