In- the House of Commons yesterday Mr William Redmond askefl questions relating to .Australasian immigration, and Mr Runciman replied for the Under-Secre- f tary for the Colonies (Mr Churchill), who is suffering from influenza. He said that Lord Elgin was pui suing exactly the same policy on Australasian immigration as was outlined at the Colonial Conference of ' 1897, and consistently observed by Mr. Chamberlain and Mr. Lyttelton. Lord Elgin had every reason to believe the Australasian Governments fully recognised that the question of immigration had a direct bearing on the external relations of the colonies, and no doubt their Govern- .- ments would continue to give furl weight to the views of the Imperial Government on the subject
