THE SCOW IRENE.
TOWED TO AUCKLAND.
The scow Irene, which went ashore at Wha- • ngaparoa. last Thursday, has been towed to, Auckland by the p.s. Awarua, and will be > - taken up on til© slip, for repairs. Mr. "W. H. Brown, shipbuilder, went clown in the Awarua last Saturday, and after an examination of the vessel decided •;to put the cargo of logs into the water. This work was safely accomplished, and the logs made into a raft. It was found that the hull of the Irene had suffered to the extent that six of her planks are broken, the stem smarted, and the sternpo*t badly damaged. Temporary repairs were effected, and the Irene refloated, and she was towed up to Auckland •■? by the Awarua with the raft of logs astern.
