A GHASTLY DISCOVERY.
■ ~'' - ABANDONED MINERS STARVE TO DEATH. TWENTY-TWO CORPSES FOUND. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— (Received If ay 6, 4.42 p.m.) ' London, May 5. i A GHASTLY discovery has been made in the Borussia mine, in Westphalia, I which was the scene of a disastrous ' explosion in June last year. In one 1 of the workings 22 corpses were [ found huddled together. The un- ', fortunate men appear to have caulked » all the crevices with strips of their 1 clothing to prevent the inrush of * gases, and to have died of starya- ? tion. 'At the time of the explosion 1 the explorers who went into the mine were unable to penetrate into all , parts, and, as in the recent case at i Courrieres, too early relinquished all ' hope of there being anyone alive in , the workings.
