ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
[by telegraph.— PßESS association.] Palmerston North, Saturday. IN the S.M. Court to-day a farmer named Angus McDonald was charged with attempted suicide. The accused got into monetary difficulties, and about the middle of March disappeared from home. All trace of him was lost till March 31, when he was found at Sanson in a semiconscious state, and bleeding from a dangerous inflicted wound. Taking the circumstances into consideration, the stipendiary magistrate admitted the accused to probation, but stated that it would have been more manly to see the trouble out than to attempt self-destruc-tion, especially since the accused had a wife and children dependent upon him.
