They failed to capture him, and it is believed he is again hiding in a forest. PIETERMARITZBURO, April 26. Mr. T Watt. Minister * for Defence in Natal, in a speech a';Pietermaritzburg last night, said there had been too great a tendency to look to professional soldiers for defence which should rest in local hands. The Transvaal's contingent was a welcome surprise. It gav*e promise of a definite understanding among the South African Governments regarding the matter of defence.
