CRUELTY TO A HOUSE.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— PBES3 ASSOCIATION.] Christchcbob, Thursday. gTDKE't Sasdkksos pleaded not guilty at the Police Court this morning, before Mr. H. W. Bishop, S.M., to a charge of cruelly illtreating a horse by working him with open sores. " Constable Gibson said the horse was at the police yard yesterday, and was drawing a load of bricks, at l«ast Mewl in weight. His Worship examined the horse, and said it was absolutely disgraceful that a horse should be worked in such a condition. He intended to inflict a substantial penalty, nor would he allow much time in which to pay it, as he did not wish it to be merely a monetary obligation. He would inflict a fine of £5 and costs, to be paid within 48 hours.
