Horses : Oil Friday, at the Durham Yards, horses were yarded in larger numbers than for some weeks, and competition was very keen. Heavy draughts sold at from £27 10s to £38; unbroken draught colts, from £22 to £43: medium, £18 15s to £29; hacks and light harness. £7 2s 6d to £15 156. The thoroughbred horse Maroon and Gold brought 17 guineas and Dr. Quest 20 guineas. On Wednesday we held a sale of thoroughbred horses at the "'H up of Erin stables, Elleralie. Thete was a. large attendance, but bidding was dull. The following sales were effected :—Roan mare Vivandel, 40 guineas; bag gelding Sterling, 15 guineas. At Waiuku on Saturday there was an average muster of stock, which sold at late rates. Dairy cows gold at from £4 5s to £6 las; empty do., £1 15s to £2 18s; two to three-year-old steers, £2 12s 6d to £4 £e; calves, 15s to £1 Is; beef at Newmarket rates. Cattle: At. the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday lie re was an average muster of dairy and store stock yarded and a full supply of beef, ~- Dairy, cows sold at from £4 10s to £8 ss: empty do.. £1 15s to £2 lis. Bidding for beef was scarcely as brisk as the previous week, oxen showing a decline oil last week's values; cow, 17s to 20s p?r 1001b. Steers sold at from £5 17s 6d to. £9 17s 6d ; cows, £4 2s 6d to £8 ss. Sheep were yarded in full numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday and met a ready sale at increased values. Wethers sold at from 18s 9d to £1 5s 6d ; ewes, 16s 6d to £1 3s. Lambs, in full stipplv, sold at extreme rates, some of the quality being" excellent, well-fatted selling at from 13s 9d to £1 0s 9d ; other sorts, lis 3d to 12s 6d. Pigs: Weaners. Gum : There is a good demand for all qualities excepting poor white and white chips. Superior black is somewhat easier, but other lines show a marked improvement.
