THE SERVIAN REGICIDES.
PLOTTING AGAINST THE KING. By Telegnrarh — Press Association.— London*, April 23. The regicide officers of Scrvia are . said to be plotting to dethrone King Peter, and to raise the Crown Princo to the throne. It is said that the Crown Prince supports the scheme. The Government have placed 500 provincial gendarmes around the palace and at the military depots. (Received April 2-1, 11.28 p.m.) Belgrade, April 24. Colonel Maschin anil four others of the regicides have retired from the public service at their own request. These resignations have been made known unofficially, information regarding them having been refused by the Government. Colonel Maischin was the actual leader of tho assassins of King Alexander and Queen Draga, on June 11, 1903, of the Queen's two brothers, and of about 50 other leading people, including Ministers and high military officers. After King Peter had succeeded to the throne, Colonel Maschin was appointed chief of the general staff, and: the chief conspirator, the man who planned lie assassinations, Colonel Popovitoh, was given command of the Belgrade Army' Division. The Government of Hervia desire to get rid of tho regicide officers, and a rcoont cablegram said "the lattoi intended to resort to force, if necessary, in their own defence. .
