FRIENDLY SOCIETIES AND PATENT MEDICINE.
> A TEST CASE. [BY TKLKGKAI'H. —I'BKSS ASSOCIATION.] aimer, Tuesday. A cask of considerable interest to friendly societies was decided by Mr. H. W. Brabant, S.M., to-day. The Dispensary Society sued a member of the Oddfellows for the cost of certain proprietary medicines supplied on a doctor's prescription. The defendant hold that under lodge rules the dispensary was compelleJ to provide all medicines free, but the dispensary rules showed all exception in cases of all patent medicines. Tile magistrate he.d that the dispensary nile was clear oil the point, and gave judgment for the amount claimed. An appeal will probably be made.
