CHRISTCHURCH EXHIBITION
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchuhch, Saturday. Thk weekly official report in connection with the New Zealand Exhibition states that the tenders of Messrs. Scott Brothers and the Christohuroh Gas Company have been accepted for a supply of light by electricity and gas and power for the exhibition buildings and grounds. The total amount of the tender is £8044. These contracts allow for the supply of 195,055 candle-power in gas, and 125,740 candle-power in electricity, with an additional 100 electrical horse-power. Mr. H. J. Scott, representative in Australia for the New Zealand Exhibition, has cabled from Melbourne that a sculptor from Rome is sending an exhibit of 15 specimens of his art. A circular letter is being issued to all brewers exhibiting at the exhibition, informing them that it is proposed to organise a competition at the exhibition of beer, which will bo limited to those firms who take up space. Arrangements have been made with Heath and Roes, of England, to erect a travelling stairway to the main gallery of the exhibition buildings. Passengers "will step on bo the platform, and will be slowly and safely carried upstairs without exertion.
