Moff'att, Thomas He wets on, John Heath, John Guy, Thomas Pattie and Horatio Everett, have been elected members of the Motueka Harbour Board. Cheistchurch, Wednesday. William Taylor Dawson, who describes himself as a herbalist, was fined 5s to-day for failing to close his shop at the hour prescribed for chemists. The magistrate held that defendant was a chemist within the meaning of the Act. Wanganui, Wednesday. A private demonstration of the working of Pritehard's automatic signal for use at railway level crossings was given to-day. The engineers expressed themselves pleased with the apparatus, which would, in their opinion, minimis* accidents. Dcnedin, Wednesday. A Port Chalmers resident, who drove out to* Waitati, was to-day fined £2 and costs for be-in if on licenced premises on Sunday.
