! A rather strange discover}* (says the Lyt- | telton Times) was made in an old disused cellar under the Hereford Hotel, where new* building operations are being conducted. The ceiling of the cellar is cemented, and hanging down from it there were a number of stalactites. They had been i formed by water mixing with the lime in ! the cement and forcing its way through the j ceiling. Stalagmites had also begun to form. The cellar was built about 25 years ago, and has been disused for 16 years. At the fair: Ladies' 2-dome coloured kid gloves, only la pair.—Smith and Caughey.
