A WASTEFUL AND ABSURD PROJECT.
The Ola Daily Times, writing with regard it, tin' Otago-Westland railway, says i would iiii(jiif.<io!iah!y be ,i wasteful and «Sunl policy that would embark upon the t'.TistiiKtiitii of .1 cosily railway such as ; ..• Otugo-YVestLmd line would he, while a number of important work's, which were sanctioned! and commenced years ago, aire still unfinished, and are in fact having only a few miles added to their length each year. The clear duty of the Legislature is to see that the railways now under construction are completed before funds are provided for other works of a fantastic description that may be suggested with the object of securing expenditure of public money in favoured districts.
