THREE LADY TOURISTS.

THEIR GREAT SIGHTSEEING

RECORD.

[BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.]

Dunedix, Tuesday. TiIHEE Glasgow ladies, the Misses Boyd (2) and Miss Playfair, who arrived in Dunedin on Saturday, have just completed a 15 months' tour through New Zealand, on their own account, during which period they have- been travelling almost continuously, a fact which empliasises the facilities now available for ladies who desire to travel extensively throughout the colony. The party arrived in Wellington from Glasgow in November, 1904, and went from there to the Bluff and Stewart Island. At the latter place they made their first acquaintance with New Zealand fauna and flora. Being keen nature observers, the party were charmed with their surroundings, notwithstanding the somewhat unproyitious weather which prevailed during their visit. From Stewart Island they journeyed to Riverton, thence through the Lakes region to Queeustown, and down through Central Otago to Dunedin, and on. to Christchurch. Thence the party went through the Bttller Gorge to .West-port, round to Wellington, and to New Plymouth, via the valley of the Wauganui, and then to Auckland, from which point they travelled to the thermal districts. After viewing the wonders to be found in that region, they returned to Auckland, and took a trip to Suva, Tonga, and Samoa, thence to Sydney for the purpose of visiting the famous Jenolan Oaves. After visiting the latter, the party returned to Auckland, .and visited Napier and other places en route to Dunedin, where they 'arrived in- time to join the Waikare for -the Sounds excursion.

The ladies are charmed with* experience gained, and the sights met with during their extensive travels. Many preconceived notions regarding the colonies, they say, have been rudely dispelled. They are most particularly impressed with the New Zealand newspapers, the illustrated weeklies being regarded as of surprising merit. The party are at present enjoying a quiet rest for several' weeks, prior to leaving Dunedin at the beginning of next month by the Athenic, Homeward bound.
