SWIMMING.
A. Wickhcm, the South Sea Islander, recently had a shot in Sydney at the world s rorord for 75yds. which is held by the American, H. A. Uideman, at 425. Wickham
won the race in 435. C. Healy, the 100 yds champion, was second, and T. Tartakover third.
It is understood that Malcolm Champion, the one-time Auckland crack swimmer, is applying for reinstatement to the amateur ranks. Champion is at present in good form and swimming finely. J. M. Hamilton, last year's New Zealand champion, won the 440 yds provincial championship of Canterbury recently in 6m. 393.
